Locomotives International

Closure of the 760mm gauge railways in Bosnia-Hercegovina began in 1947 and the last public line disappeared in 1979, leaving a few items of preserved rolling stock but many fond memories and photographs. Drawing on numerous sources, this collection of over 210 black and white and colour photographs depicts the state-operated and industrial lines of these much loved narrow gauge railways in various eras. The pictures range from some of the oldest locomotives to have run in Bosnia-Hercegovina and a rare steam railmotor to a look at the coal railway at Banovići, one of the very last places in the world where steam is still used on a regular basis.
