Fifield Central Visit

A visit has been arranged to David Buck’s private railway near Windsor, starting at 2 pm on Friday, 31st May. There are five steam locos on site. In steam for the visit will be the 5ft gauge Pacific LADY PATRICIA (TK 946), giving rides in its tender, and one of SWANSCOMBE (AB 699), SIR VINCENT (AP 8800) or HORNPIPE (P 1756), hauling trains on the standard gauge circuit. There will be a vote prior to the visit to decide which one of those will be steamed. As well as the steamers, there is a diesel shunter (AB 352), the fire-tender railcar Bg 3538 (currently under overhaul), several rail trollies, a velocipede, a rail bicycle and a pump trolley, as well as other items of rolling stock.

The charge for the visit will be £20, payable in advance, to offset in part the cost of the coal (one ton is required just to light up the Pacific). If you are not an IRS member you must also take out £2 day membership. There will be no barriers on site (all stock will be available for viewing), so for safety reasons the minimum age for joining this visit is 14.

Final arrangements for the visit will be notified about a week before the event.
